Background

  • Many times people search for love in all the wrong places
  • People are trying to find the true love of their life
  • God's love for us is unconditional, unchanging and eternal
  • He loves us in spite of what we have done or where we have been
  • When we look at how we love people and we stop loving them because they let us down or they are not who they used to be
  • God's love is based on His grace, mercy and character (His love, compassion, holiness, righteousness, and justice)
  • God's love is forgiving
  • Our God tenderly searches for sinners (Luke 15:7 & John 3:16) - The 99 thought they did not need repentance and that they did not need Jesus but the one knew they needed repentance, so God threw a party in Heaven
  • God is the source of our love
  • God's love is inexhaustible - it is infinite and can never run out or be depleted, no matter how much He gives it away
  • We never have to worry that God will run out of love because it flows from a well that never runs dry
  • If we drink of what Jesus has we will never be thirsty again
  • Our family and friends can not fulfill our needs...only Jesus can fulfill that need that God put in us

Key Sermon Points:

1.  God's love has already prepared a way for us

  • God's love is completely supernatural
  • The bible says Love God with everything first- we can not love anyone else without loving Him first
  • He demonstrated his marvelous love for us  by sending his son to the cross
  • Love is not just something God does but it is who He is- God is LOVE
  • If we asked why he did it- we must look for answers in his sovereign will
  • God did not wait for humanity to clean up our act- we can not do it, only the blood us Jesus can wash us white as snow
  • Christ died while people were actively broken, helpless, and rebellious
  • Jesus' death bridged the gap between us and God

2.  God's love is beyond measure

  • We can not measure God's love
  • We might be doing well now but we never know when the wheels will start falling off
  • No matter what happens to us, where we are, or what we go through, we can never get lost in God's love
  • Suffering will never drive us away but we instead should run to Him and cling to Him
  • We must learn how to suffer gracefully
  • Each and every day God gives us grace to get through what we go through
  • Do you ever think that when we are suffering God is trying to entrust us to bring Glory to His name?... No one is exempt from going through, from the pulpit to the door
  • Neither visible nor invisible things can separate us from God's love
  • It was by His grace and new mercies that we can look back and see that, in spite of us, God still loved us
  • People tend to forget that they have skeletons in their closet as well
  • God knows what we will be before we get there and will still love us
  • It is in Christ our Lord why God loves us
  • God's love always wins and is stronger than any force in the universe seen or unseen
  • Many believers standing and relying on their own can not stand
  • The phrase "But God" marks a turning point in the bible (Genesis 50:20)
  • God is able to take us where we need to go
  • Psalms 73:26 - the "but" is the conjunction that changes everything around
  • Our circumstances are a mess but God is the One that turns everything around
  • God is a difference maker and without Him we would all be a mess
  • We do not deserve anything we have.. including our lives
  • God looked beyond our thoughts and reached our needs
  • God walks and talks with us and gives us a new heart and new mind
  • If it had not been for God we would still be a miserable soul
  • In all our goodness we still can not be who we want to be...it is only because of Jesus
